European Digital Identity Wallet: FastID is helping shape the future of digital identity in Europe
What is APTITUDE?
APTITUDE is a European collaboration involving over 300 participants from 12 countries, the European Commission, HaDEA, and various public and private organizations. The goal? To build a secure, interoperable and inclusive digital identity for all Europeans. At the heart of this effort is the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet): a digital wallet that allows citizens to safely manage and share their identity and personal data across the EU.
FastID’s role in APTITUDE
As a specialist in digital identity solutions, FastID is actively contributing to both the technical and strategic development of the EUDI Wallet. During the kick-off in Paris, our colleague Alexander joined workshops on interoperability, regulations and practical use cases. Topics included secure authentication, user-friendly wallet
interfaces and ensuring inclusivity for all citizens, regardless of digital skills or background.

- Interoperability – systems that work seamlessly across Europe
- User-centric design – solutions that are accessible to everyone
Working together in the Large Scale Pilots
FastID is part of the Large Scale Pilots (LSPs) within the APTITUDE project. These pilots test the EUDI Wallet in real-world settings across different countries and sectors. The aim is to develop and validate practical applications, from accessing public services to securely sharing diplomas or medical records. FastID contributes by providing technology, helping shape the architecture and ensuring the wallet meets the highest standards for security, usability and EU compliance. We do this in partnership with N.E.C. Nijmegen and Enzoysystems B.V. We’ll soon share more about the specific use cases we’re working on.
Why the European Digital Identity Wallet matters
Digital identity affects us all. Whether it’s opening a bank account, applying for healthcare or voting in elections± a reliable digital identity is essential. The EUDI Wallet marks a major step toward a Europe where citizens have control over their own data, cross-border services are easily accessible and privacy is protected.
Moving forward together
The kick-off in Paris was more than just a starting point. It confirmed our shared ambition to make Europe more digitally secure, inclusive and future-ready. FastID is proud to be part of this journey.
